Concept 

This developing comic anthology is set around the theme of having a body, it's pretty open! Submitted stories can include a wide range of story topics such as, but not limited to: embarrassing puberty stories, representing size inclusive experiences, representing body inclusive and body diverse experiences, gender transitioning, child birth and parenthood impact on the body, etc. We are interested in representing a spectrum of the human experience; everything from the gross to the comical, to the serious or the unserious. 

 

Submission Requirements

Submissions should include a short form comic story pitch combined PDF uploaded to the Google Drive link. Please submit a written proposal and a visual proposal. The submission form accepts a maximum of 1 file. Maximum of 5 MB per file. Storyboards are encouraged but not required. You may also include 1+ panels of final example work, but also not required. Include the following in the combined PDF:

  • Your name

  • 1 paragraph max story summary

  • Sketches

  • 1-3 images of your previous work

    • optional: storyboard

    • optional: final panel sample

Parameters

We will plan to use a CMYK limited color palette. The final print dimensions will be 6x9 inches vertical. Details and exact dimensions will be sent to accepted artists in January 2025. Sketches do not need to be exactly proportional to the final print, but should consider that the print will be vertical.

Review Process and Timeline

 

Initial submissions are due no later than December 6 at 11:59 pm PST. Submissions will then be reviewed by the jury and receive a decision in early January 2025. Accepted submissions should prepare to commit to finishing and sending the final work in the late February/earlyMarch 2025 for print and publication.

Why Apply?

Accepted artists will be able to participate in a virtual peer review session with the jurors and other accepted artists. 

 

While not guaranteed, the final publication will be submitted for high profile exhibitions and awards.
